Vicky Warham
An ‘80’s baby, Vicky grew up in (Costa del) Blackpool. At 15 she went on work experience to this wonderful magical place, well it was her local radio station. Here she found people were getting paid to chat, have a laugh and play tunes everyday – heaven!
At 18 she went off to Sunderland uni and studied Media for 3 years. Between lectures she was Gareth Gates' backing dancer on the first Pop Idol tour and also ran the uni's Dance Society. She once managed to convince the Rugby team to do The Full Monty on stage at the student union. It was for charity and they raised a lot of money that night!
At 21 she had a degree but no money or job or house so moved back to mum and dad's in Blackpool and after much hassling and hanging around got a gig producing a late night phone-in on a station in Manchester. At weekends she presented shows everywhere from Blackpool to Liverpool to Leeds to Lancaster and at 23 decided she'd had enough of working 7 nights a week so moved up to Cumbria to present fulltime on a radio station there where they played "Cowboy Time" every night. It was all about getting your song played if you did the biggest loudest "yeehaa"! The Sugababes did the best celebrity yeehaaa and Amy Winehouse was rubbish at it.
Vicky can be heard every Friday and Saturday morning on , until 6am, playing songs and trying not to talk too much rubbish in between them.
