Stay safe, don’t be vulnerable
Drink plenty of water
Having water between your drinks on a night out will keep you hydrated and it'll slow down the bad affects of what you're drinking. And because alcohol plays a major part in violence, drinking water will help keep you safe.
Space your drinks out
Have a soft drink in between alcoholic drink, this will slow down the effects of the alcohol and allow you to feel good but not over do it.
Stay in a group
For a safe and enjoyable night out stick together with friends, pace your drinks and plan your journey home. Always book a taxi home before you go out, or carry the number of a reliable taxi firm with you at all times.
Keep an eye on your drink
Drinks being spiked is a common problem, make sure you always keep your hand over your glass whilst talking to someone. Don't leave your drink unattended or accept a drink from anyone you don’t know.
Buy your food when you get the munchies
Never try to cook anything when you come home after drinking. One in three fire related deaths happen when people have been drinking. Often from cooking or from cigarette butts that have not been put out properly.
Always take a coat
There is always a risk of hypothermia whether you have been drink or not, despite the myth, alcohol does not make you any warmer, so if you are walking home or waiting around for a taxi, wrap up, even in the summer temperatures can be very low at night time.
Don't drink and drive
There is no fail-safe guide to ensure you stay under the legal alcohol limit or how much you can drink and still drive safely, so don't try. Stay safe - have none for the Road!!
