On April 1st 1990 inmates at Strangeways Prison took control and protested for 25 days. 147 prison officers and 47 prisoners were injured and the cost of repairs came to a massive £55 million. 20 years after the UK's worst prison riot kicked off, KEY 103 looks back on what went on. The Strangeways prison riot may have happened 20 years ago but the story is still being told today. This month local theatre company Fink On Theatre are putting on 'Crying In The Chapel' a play about the infamous riots to help paint a bigger picture of what happened.
